Abbey Student Named in Hey Rhody Magazine’s “Who to Watch” for 2025
Her journey to this recognition began with research applying seaweed-based solutions to combat climate change. Inspired by her childhood near Chao Lake in Anhui, China, and her experiences in Narragansett Bay, Zhang has developed a bioplastic made from sea lettuce and launched a kelp farm. Her work demonstrates the power of combining local insights with scientific innovation. Beyond her scientific achievements, Zhang’s vision extends to empowering others. She plans to create educational opportunities for K-12 students and to collaborate with local aquaculture farmers to mitigate climate impacts. Her ultimate aspiration is to become an environmental lawyer, using her expertise to champion sustainable solutions. |
